Amplification rather than magic
The same tool can reduce cost, accelerate learning, automate routine or scale an error. The question 'is this technology good?' is therefore often too coarse. A better question is: which capability does it amplify, for whom and under which conditions?
Scale changes risk
A manual error may affect one operation. An automated error can repeat thousands of times before it is noticed. As scale increases, verification, observability and the ability to stop the process need to become stronger as well.
Technological maturity is not the number of tools in use. It is the ability to decide where automation can act independently, where human review is necessary and which consequences are unacceptable.
Independence from a single tool
When a critical process depends completely on one platform, a person gains speed but gives up some autonomy. A change in rules, price, access or algorithm can immediately alter what is possible.
A stronger technological position therefore includes portable skills, alternative channels, owned copies of important data and an understanding of underlying principles. The tool should amplify the person's system rather than become the system without which the person cannot act.
